This post is a tough one.
Something that all of us parents worry so much about our children when we leave them in other people's hands.
Erik goes to an Elementary school near my parents house. Why, because my dear mother watches my kids (something I am EXTREMLY greatful for). Actually I went to the same elementary school when I was a child.
So yesterday we get a letter addressed to the parents of Erik.
As I read it, I choked up. I have to say I felt so many emotions going through my head. Basically that letter said that there was a male teacher that was acting inappropiate with school children and he was now in custody. WHAT????!!!!
It didn't say which teacher it was, what grade this teacher taught or anything. However they are offering counseling to children who needed it.
Well luckily my son has never had a male teacher. All his teachers have been females so far. But still. That scares the hell out of me.
It didn't say it was a school from the school district, but it WAS the school where Erik attends!
I don't understand these sick people. These are very young children with innocent minds.
I have always told Erik not to let ANYBODY touch him inappropiatly, and if they do, he HAS to tell me. I am not sure he understands by inappropiate, but I have told him not to let anyone touch his private areas. The same as I tell him not to talk to strangers. I have given him several scenarios of things that they may say to him and always, always remind him to NOT walk away with a stranger.
You can't trust anybody anymore. Here you are dropping off your children at school and you can't even trust the teachers there at school. You can't even trust priests at church either. So who can you trust?
I am glad however that the letter was sent to all the parents letting us know they are taking action. I am not happy obviosly of what it said, but am glad that they are doing something about it. I am sad and upset to find out that he touched a little person, but am also glad that this little person came forward and said something.
Talk to your children. Let them know it's WRONG to be touched inapropiatly!
They need to trust you so that they can come to you for ANYTHING.

even though you had already told me about this, I still had a lot of emotions going through me! You're so right...you can't trust anyone these days! Thankfully, Erik is okay *sigh*
